    Short version: We collect nothing. Your data never leaves your browser.
    Everything is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage.
  

1. Who We Are

Smart Expense Capture is a Chrome browser extension that automatically detects Amazon India order pages and records the order amount and order ID locally on your device to help you track your monthly spending.

2. What Data We Collect

When you visit an Amazon India order confirmation or order details page, the extension reads:

Order ID — the unique Amazon order reference number
Order amount — the total ₹ value of the order
Date — the date the order was captured (generated locally)

We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, payment card details, passwords, browsing history, or any other personal information.

3. How Data Is Stored

All data is stored exclusively using chrome.storage.local — Chrome's built-in local storage API. This means:

Data is stored only on your device
Data is never uploaded to any server
Data is never transmitted over the internet
Only you can see your data

5. Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following permissions:

storage — to save and retrieve your order history locally using chrome.storage.local
Host access to amazon.in — to run a content script that reads order amounts and order IDs from Amazon India order pages. No data from these pages is transmitted anywhere.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data persists in local storage until you delete it. You can remove individual entries using the delete button in the extension popup, or clear all data using the "Clear All" button. Uninstalling the extension from Chrome also removes all stored data.

7. Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
